July 13

Today was another day of work projects. While I was waiting for Jordan to work on the jar shelf, I did some daily chores and made some protein energy bites for the coming week.

The main project of the day however was the jar shelf. Ginger enjoys canning various items including jams and soups. The issue is that the jars for this are stored underneath the house so they get dirty and need to be washed every time they are used. To alleviate this problem, Jordan and I made a jar shelf to hold the jars in the pantry so they stay clean and are more accessible.

First, we moved the coat rack off the wall to prevent it from getting in the way of the shelf. Then, we used a stud finder to figure out where to put the brackets for the shelf. Then, the brackets were attached. There were three different boards that needed to be mounted because we didn’t have the right size lumber for the whole wall. The next step was to secure the boards onto the brackets so the jars don’t fall off. This took a relatively short time compared to stocking the shelf. It took two days of work to wash all the jars and place them on the shelf. I also cleaned up the pantry so the whole area looked nice.

To end our hard day of work, Jordan, Kristy, Bentley and I took a banya. This would have been a quiet ending to the evening except Kristy stocked the stove as full as she could. The banya reached 180 ºF. This was so toasty that we had to take multiple breaks until the banya cooled down to an acceptable temperature. However, after the banya we all were warm and had a nice dinner before heading to bed.
