June 20

Despite the rain and gloom today, some things did get accomplished. In the morning I made protein energy bites and canned honey for future baking needs. This took until around noon when Bentley and Jordan showed up at the house. For the next couple hours we fixed one of the kitchen chairs and then gathered some greens from the greenhouse for a salad tonight.

On our way back we fed the chickens and tried to get them to go back into their coop. The hens are afraid of going inside because Ginger put a light in there to dry it out before we left for town and forgot it was in there. Apparently, the hens didn’t like that and now they won’t go into the house. We were unsuccessful but we’ll try another time.

The other major project of the day was flushing the septic system. The house system and the outhouse had to be drained and this process took most of the afternoon. A pretty crappy job you could say.

After that adventure I cooked dinner which consisted of sautéed vegetables, spaghetti squash, and an incredible salad. It took a couple of hours, but the delicious tasting food was well worth the effort.

After dinner we watched the movie Rat Race and had some popcorn. Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit more dry and sunny.
