July 18

This morning Kristy and I hit the ground running. Our first task was cleaning the banya. It hadn’t been cleaned in a while, so we scrubbed the floors, walls, and benches until they were squeaky clean.

Later in the morning Kristy and I started transplanting some flowers and in the process found our little vole friend who has been terrorizing the plants in the greenhouse. He has avoided 5 traps so far but caught his tail in the 6th one. Because he wasn’t dead yet, we decided to put him in an aquarium and keep him as a pet. His tail was also broken, so it seemed a bit cruel to put him back in the wild. I decided to name him Wilfred, since it matched the other names of our critters on camp.
Say hello to Wilfred.
Around noon the gang took a field trip to the fox farm to dink around on the beach and just relax. This took up our entire afternoon. We beach combed, explored the fox farm, and found eels and worms in the tide pools for the chickens.

Once we got back to camp, we started the banya and dinner. The banya felt amazing like always and dinner was a venison roast with potatoes, carrots, onions, and salad. Overall it was a very relaxing day for everyone!
