This morning Kristy and I
both decided to sleep in. That didn’t mean that we didn’t work the rest of the
day though. We spent some time in the morning making vanilla espresso energy
balls and starting new batches of kombucha. This was a lot of fun and gave us
something to do that wasn’t so hard on the body. Just before noon we began
prepping for the installation of the running line, which is a pulley system
that makes it easier for boats to park long-term and not be affected by the
tides. The boat can be attached to the line and then pull their boat out to sea
beyond the low tide line.
This was interrupted by a
giant stump of a spruce tree that was directly in the way of the running line
area. We spent the next couple hours pulling it farther down the beach and
trying to burn it. Even with gasoline, we never did get it to burn, so it’ll
have to stay on the beach for a bit longer.
In the afternoon Kristy
cleared a sitting area behind one of the greenhouses, Bentley and Jordan weeded
one of the hoop houses, and I weed whacked the path leading to the woods. This
took almost four hours because it was so overgrown. I’m excited to be able to
walk to the woods and not feel like I need a machete to get there.
