What a fantastic day! In
the morning Kristy and I journaled together and then spent some time relaxing
before cleaning up the house in preparation for Ginger’s arrival. Kristy
vacuumed and mopped while I finished stocking the jar shelf. This took us until
noon.
In the afternoon we
decided to go hammocking in the woods around main camp. We picked a spot right
next to the bluff where we could see across the strait. The sky was a piercing
blue with white, puffy clouds floating across and the strait was tinged with
the occasional white cap. It was incredibly rejuvenating to hear the waves and
wind and see the dappled sunlight through the pine needles. Kristy and I ended
up hammocking for two hours while we talked about life.
When we got back Kristy
wanted to play with the chickens some more, so we took Lucy out of the chicken
pen and played with her awhile. We ended up taking her to the beach to look for
potato bugs, which are tiny crustacean-like creatures that hop around on the
rocks. This was amusing for a time, but it got cooler as the wind picked up so
we headed up for dinner. In addition, Ginger did not come back today, so we
didn’t need to wait at the beach anyway.
Kristy and I made acorn
squash, salad, and reheated piroc. It was fun to relax and eat outside on the
deck for a change. In the evening we both went down to the boathouse to piddle
around with arts and crafts before calling it a night.
