Today the weather
couldn’t decide what to do. The morning was calm with fog that turned into rain
and then to overcast and then to partly cloudy and sunny. Talk about bipolar
weather! Regardless of the weather, work still had to be done. In the morning Kristy
and I started smashing a huge pile of dried clay with a sledge hammer to
prepare it for making the pizza oven. It was good anger therapy to smash a huge
hammer onto rocks and break them into pieces!
After lunchtime Kristy
continued with anger therapy while I helped bake some things in the kitchen. I
made banana raisin cookies and banana bread. Can you tell we had a surplus of
bananas?
I also started the
mixture for corn bread which we were having with seafood chowder tonight
courtesy of Ginger. Of course, no day is boring out here and today was no
exception. As Ginger and I were prepping dinner, a kombucha bottle exploded in
the entryway and spilled its sugary, fermented goodness all over the floor.
This took a few minutes to clean up and then we could finally have dinner. We
ate good tonight; seafood chowder, corn bread, carrot, raisin and pineapple
salad, a greens salad, and pea salad.
In the evening Kristy and
I had some quality sister bonding time. We sat and talked for a long while,
then we explored the homestead. Not many people can say they’ve sat in a net in
the trees of the Alaskan bush or that they’ve jumped on a trampoline at the
base of a mountain in the wilderness. Mystic Mountain is truly an amazing
place.
