What a crappy start to
the day. The winds were roaring, rain was pelting down, and the seas were full
of 5-foot waves. Heidi left early in the morning, so I got up to say goodbye
and help her get her things down to the beach. Despite the conditions Ginger and
Heidi took off so Heidi could make her float plane to Kodiak and then her
flight to Anchorage and beyond. However, due to the storm conditions, the float
plane couldn’t land so Heidi and Ginger came back to the house after an hour or
so out in the elements. A warm cup of coffee later and everyone was warmed up.
Late morning, the
neighbor called to say the float plane was coming out due to the break in the
weather. Heidi, Ginger, and I rushed around to get geared up and get Heidi off
to her plane. She successfully made her flight and Ginger made it back safe.
The rest of the day was spent reading, watching movies, and relaxing.
Around dinner time Vic
and his crew stopped in for dinner and a banya. Ginger and I prepped a
fresh-caught salmon, halibut, and a salad for dinner. We also had homemade
salad dressings that we created this evening including honey mustard, Italian,
and Asian. It was delicious. Afterwards everyone went outside for a bit and got
ready to rest for the night. Hopefully tomorrow some more work can get done.
