June 14

Today is a sad day because tomorrow early morning Heidi leaves. Because of this, today was a fun day. In the morning the chickens were fed and Heidi and I spent some time chatting in the kitchen.
Late morning Ginger, Heidi, and I went down to the beach to look for beach treasures. We saw a leather sea star, chitins (which I ate fresh off the rock), beach glass, and a sea anemone!

This got us pretty hungry, so we went back to the house for lunch. After lunch it was time for some outdoor reading and relaxing. This was easily my favorite part of the day. Then, the three of us had arts and crafts time. I made a cool abstract picture of the beach and water with beach glass, shells, and rocks and everyone else had their own projects as well.
My completed beach art.
Later in the afternoon the neighbors came over and brought two fresh sockeye salmon. We filleted these and made some for dinner, but not before a banya of course. For dinner, Ginger went all out and made scallops, salmon, and a wild rice skillet. It was a nice dinner to send off Heidi.

The rest of the evening was spent watching a movie and eating more delicious 7-Up cake. I don’t want tomorrow to come because it will be hard to say goodbye to Heidi....
