June 13

The morning was another glorious one with not a cloud in the sky. First thing in the morning I went up to the hoop houses to clean up any areas I missed yesterday. Then, I used a leaf mulcher to grind up dead grass for the strawberry beds that we hung previously. The grass should help retain moisture so the plants can grow nice and healthy.
Finished hanging strawberry planter.
Later in the afternoon I went out to the water line to start reclaiming some industrial size zip ties and electrical wiring. Ginger wants to use it in the future for a barrier around the chicken coop to keep out vermin. This seemed like a simple task until I realized that the wiring was put down 12 years ago and now there was 2 inches or more of moss growing over it. I had to carefully cut the moss roots away from the wire so I could pull it out. After about two hours of doing this I came back to camp to help prepare dinner.

Dinner was delicious as always with a venison roast and carrots and potatoes with a wonderful pasta salad. The added bonus for today was a ride on a saner, a boat that puts in and pulls set nets. Ginger’s brother-in-law wanted Ginger to train his skiff man, so the rest of us sat on the boat to watch.
Two hours later we returned to camp and had 7-Up pound cake with hot blueberry sauce on top. It was a perfect way to end the day.
