June 10

While today was a full day, it was also a lot of fun. In the morning I latched down some chicken wire around the doors to the chicken pen so that a fox can’t dig in and eat them. Then, I went up to the greenhouses and weeded what we call the Gothic because there was an abundance of this annoying weed we keep finding everywhere.

In the morning I also started working on a sign for the honey bucket station at the creek. A honey bucket is a bucket kept in your room where you can do your business without needing the outhouse. After your business is finished, you have to dump it into the creek which washes into the ocean. Ginger decided there needed to be a sign after numerous breaches of honey bucket protocol and so I made one up.

In the afternoon I weeded a small garden patch that had horseradish in it. The job was tough with all the salmon berry bushes, but the end product looked so good the effort was worth it.

I then had to take in and fold my laundry and also de-spider my treehouse. With 20 bites while I was sleeping I was fed up with the current situation. I had to climb up into an alcove which was terrifying for me but after cleaning that area, under the bunk, and the rest of the treehouse I feel much safer and hopefully it will be less spidery in the future.

Then we had dinner together which was again delicious and ended the night with the movie “Quiggley Down Under.” It was a great classic western-style film and the popcorn and fruit and nut snack that Ginger made us was delicious too. Now its time for bed!
