What a busy day! Right
after I went to empty my honey bucket (large pail for bathroom business) our
friendly neighborhood fox named Rosie appeared. After feeding Rosie, I hauled a
couple wheelbarrows full of gravel to cover a muck spot on camp. Then the
pantry in the house had to be organized and tidied up.
After a short lunch I
made chive pesto, which is full of delicious greens and has a nice kick to it.
This took a couple of hours. Following pesto time I went and made a watering
system for the 8 chickens on site.
The last part of the day
I helped Jordan finish hauling gravel to the muck spot and transplanted more
delicious greens in the greenhouses.
Of course, after a long
day of work one needs a nice banya. This was a relaxing end to a great day. But
not before we had dinner, which featured a salad with greens from the garden
and a homemade dressing courtesy of Ginger.
How can such a relaxing
day end without a little drama? After checking on the chickens, Ginger found
one dead.
We then had to clean the chicken and hang it up to cool overnight. We
are assuming for now that it just had an unfortunate mishap, but fox activity
is not completely ruled out.

Also, inside the chicken
were eggs in different stages, some of which were just yolks. I ended up eating
one right out of the chicken. It was good but I don’t think I’ll do it again.
