June 5

What better way to start off my morning than feeding chickens? They of course were already outside of their coop and squawking for food, so I got that taken care of right away. The rest of the morning I spent doing some food preparation. First, I rinsed the sprouts we’re growing in jars to use on salads and other foods. Then, I made herb butter. Herb butter is just room temperature butter combined with any herbs of the creator’s choosing. I put chives and oregano from the garden into mine and then reformed it into squares of butter for later use.

Late morning I made chive pesto, which was DELICIOUS. First the chives were chopped up along with the garlic cloves. Then, the chives, garlic, olive oil, and nutritional yeast were all combined in a food processor and ground up until it has a thick consistency. I only made a small amount because it was by first time making it, but it you better believe that I will be making more in the future.
Chive pesto.
Before lunch I also decided to clean up the dirt and grime that had accumulated on the stove the past two weeks.

Following lunch Jordan and I decided to clean up and organize Ginger’s canning jar collection under the house. Of course it decided to rain in the afternoon too. That took a couple hours and by then it was late afternoon. Jordan continued a project outside and I took some time to read.

In the evening I made a skillet of sorts to use up all the food that was going bad including beef, potatoes, carrots, onion, mushrooms, and chives. I have to say, it was pretty good! Nothing else exciting happened today, but tomorrow promises to be a good one.
