Hello sunshine! Today was
absolutely gorgeous. The weather improved drastically, and we actually got to
see some blue skies. Because tomorrow is supposed to be even better, we decided
to tackle a bunch of projects today. Jordan and I mainly focused on the chicken
coop. While Jordan added tin to the bottoms of all the doors so the fox
couldn’t see into the pens and added latches on all the doors, I placed pieces
of chicken wire on the ground in front of the doors and covered it with old
grass clippings.
The idea is that if a fox tries to dig into the pen, it will be stopped by the wire. After I finished that project, I started to chop down the salmon berry bushes behind the coop so that everyone on camp can see into the pen and a fox can’t hide in the brush. This was a much larger task than I imagined and ended up taking the whole afternoon.

In addition to behind the
coop, I also chopped a foot into the salmon berries from the road to make the
path wider for the truck. After I gathered all the brush I cut it was placed in
a mucky spot where the truck turns to head to the beach. Hopefully by later in
the summer there will be more brush and hurricane fencing put down so the truck
has something to drive on.
While all this was going
on, Jeanie worked on weeding the greenhouse. The houses look absolutely amazing
and are now weed free!
After a long day of work,
I took a break to read in the sun. It was a well-deserved ending to a great
day.
