Wasn’t feeling too hot
this morning but decided to get up early and start my day early anyway. The
first order of business was transplanting some young mustard plants in the
greenhouse. Ginger found this really cool way of growing seedlings using milk
jugs. Basically, you the milk jug almost in half and then put soil and plant
the seeds in the bottom. This creates a good growing environment and gives the
plants a kick start in the growing process. Now that the plants were growing
nicely it was time they got into the big kid soil.
After the plants were
finished some netting had to be stapled to the chicken coop because the old
wire had rusted through. This didn’t take long so I hiked back up to the greenhouses
and turned the compost pile. Not too long later Bentley and Jordan found their
way up there as well. Jordan and I decided to try and finish the chicken coop,
so we found some more tin sheets to cover the roof with and headed back down
the hill. I cut some of the tin sheets while Jordan went searching for a log to
extend the current lodge pole so the roofing was even. Unfortunately, by noon
my cold was worsening so I went to the treehouse to take a nap.
Three hours later I
emerged from my slumber to find that Jordan had finished the chicken coop roof
and siding. What a work ethic! The rest of the evening I didn’t do anything
because of my cold, but hopefully tomorrow I feel better.
